Hello everyone,
Welcome to a new year of scouting. I wanted to send a reminder to everyone that our first Cadette meeting is this coming Wednesday, Sept. 12th at 6:00 in the Voss Center of Queen of Angels School.
Our first meeting will be a get to know you meeting and we will also be voting on the journeys or badges that we will be working on this year. There will be an information sheet that I am asking parents to fill out as you arrive with your daughters.
If you haven’t already please register or renew your daughters for the new year.
Anyone needing to register can go to https://www.girlscoutsgcnwi.org/ and click on the join or renew button. Please make sure that you enter troop 25787 so your daughter can be added to our troop. If anyone is still experiencing difficulties registering let me know as soon as possible.
As a reminder there is a cost of $25 when registering online and also an additional $25 dues fee that goes directly to the troop to help with the cost of supplies and badges earned throughout the year.
Please review the “ABOUT” tab on this blog which has the full list of meetings for the year and also the uniform requirements for the troop. There is also a diagram of the patch placement on the uniform.
If anyone is interested in helping out with the troop, I am in need of a co-leader.
White Pines…. Oct 19-21st
A head count for the White Pines horseback riding trip is needed by September 15th. I know that this is short notice but please shoot me an email before then or let me know at our meeting if you are planning to attend.
All money and permission slips must be turned into Colleen Herman by Thursday, October 4th by 9 pm. No expectations. I can collect them ahead of this time and turn them in to Colleen if its more convenient.
It is $165 per person and this includes two horse rides, meals, lodging, and activities for the trip. Transportation is on your own. Checks can be made out to Girl Scouts.
Permission slips and medical forms need to be completed for each person attending. Please note that often this is a parent / child weekend. Leaders will not be “taking” the girls on their own. Most girls come with a parent or the parents have made arrangements for the girls to attend with another family. Note that not all families go as it is an expensive weekend. We highly promote our May camping trip that is much cheaper. Some families go every other year as we do plan to continue this outing.
Each person attending will be able to go on two trail rides. There is also a hayride, country line dancing, fossil hunting, hiking, a corn maze, and more.
It is a very fun weekend!
Questions? Please ask me OR email colleen.herman@gmail.com
For anyone no longer wishing to receive Troop communications, please let me know and I will remove your name from our distribution list.
Below are some important dates to keep in mind for some optional activities coming up:
Service Unit Picnic – Saturday Sept. 29th – 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM – Bunker Hill Grove #2 – Additional details to follow.
Juniper Knoll Camping Trip – May 19th thru May 21st – East Troy, WI – $60.00 per person.
I hope everyone has a great week and I look forward to seeing you all on Sept. 12th.
