Juniper Knoll Sign Up Needed by 4/1/19 & looking ahead

Hi All,

We had a great meeting this week.  The girls have decided to use their cookie profits in two ways.  The first is a donation towards a fellow Girl Scout named Bella and her mom who recently lost everything including their home in a house fire.  The second use for our cookie profits will go toward helping the homeless.  The girl are organizing a clothing drive and we will be purchasing items to distribute to the homeless.

These girls have such a great heart for giving to the less fortunate and I’m very proud of their passion for this cause.  Cookie Sales are winding down and final counts will be coming in the next week.  We will know then exactly how much money we are working with.

Juniper Knoll 5/17-5/19

I received an email from the Juniper Knoll coordinator indicating that they need a count of all those planning to attend by 4/1/19.  I apologize that its a bit sooner than my previous email indicated but if you and.or your daughter are planning to attend please add your names to the sign up sheet below.  The Cost is $55 which will include a snack Friday night, all meals on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday.  The fee also includes archery and Canoeing.

Its all right in not all parents can attend but I would need a few to help that weekend as well as provide transportation for the girls coming unaccompanied.  It was a lot of fun last year and should be great fun this year as well.

The Cadettes and the Juniors will most likely be bunking together because I am the troop leader for both and will be working with both troops that weekend.

Archery Outing

The girls have expressed a desire to earn their Archery badge this year.  If the girls are planning to attend camp then they will earn the badge at that time.  However, if the majority of girls will not be going to camp I can arrange to have us go on a field trip to Archery Custom Shop in Forest Park.  Even though this location is a bit far (Harlem & Madison) it was the most economical option.

If we choose to go this route we can decide to have the Archery class either on a weeknight (excluding Wednesday) or on a weekend.  If we choose a weekend it will be a couple of weeks out to book but should not be an issue.

Next Year

It may seem a bit early to start thinking about next year but it really is fast approaching.  I hope that all of your girls have enjoyed their scouting experience so far and would love to see them all back next year.  I do realize as they get older and join multiple activities that schedules do get a bit chaotic and it may be difficult to keep up with everything.

In light of the girls evolving schedule and the additional time and work that Cadette badges require I wanted to know if moving our meetings to a different day and time would make things better with everyone and hopefully allow the girls better flexibility to continue with Scouting.  Please let me know if any of the following would be better for next year’s schedules:

  • Keeping our every other Wednesday schedule as is
  • Moving to a different weeknight
  • Moving to a Saturday or Sunday for a 2 hour meeting biweekly
  • Moving to a Saturday or Sunday for a 3 hour meeting Monthly

Responses Requested by 4/1

I know that I just threw a lot of information for you at once to process at once but I would appreciate it if everyone would take the time to think about this and respond back either in a comment to this post or in an email by April 1st to all the following:

  1. Will your daughter/you be attending camp?
  2. If not what day would work better for our proposed Archery Outage?
  3. What are your thoughts for next year’s meeting schedule?
