Hi everyone,
Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances I will need to cancel tonight’s meeting. I apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. We will meet for the next scheduled meeting as usual. Thank you for your understanding.
Hello all,
Sorry for the late post but I did want to remind you all that we will be meeting this evening at 6:00 PM in the park. We will be meeting near the gazebo. We will begin working on our field days badge. Today we will be working on creating team T-shirts. I will be providing t-shirts for the girls to decorate. They will be using fabric paints and markers so please have them wear something they don’t mind getting messy in.
DUES
there is a $25.00 dues fee that is used to offset the cost of supplies and badges. This can be paid by cash, check or Zelle. If paying by cash or check please have it in a sealed envelope with your child’s name on the envelope. If paying by Zelle you can send it to 312-953-0405 or my email address lexi.toledo75@gmail.com. Please be sure to include your child’s name and purpose for the payment on the memo line of the transaction. Thank you to all those that have already paid their dues.
FALL PRODUCT
The fall product website is up and available to use. By now you all should have gotten an email advising you that you can set up your fall product sales page. They have a lot of good products available so I encourage you to take a look.
Hello all,
There has been much conversation about the White Pines Weekend. Some have expressed interest but concern about Covid protocols. These are the following options we have available. Please let me know where you stand about white pines. Responses needed no later than Sept 13th so we can make a final decision.
Option 1 – move ahead with the White Pines weekend as planned. Per the Ranch each troop will have their own dorm so that we can adequately spread out for sleeping. Masks will be required for all when indoors and each troop will have their own table during meals.
Option 2 – move the Weekend to sometime in March to allow possible vaccines for younger children or the effects of the pandemic to lessen a bit.
As always with either option each child will require a supervising adult and their own transportation to and from the ranch. If you choose to car pool amongst each other that is fine. We just can not provide troop coordinated ride sharing.
The cost for each person is $185 and the ranch is willing to refund deposits if families need to quarantine due to catching Covid but you would needed provide proof of a Covid diagnosis.
Welcome Back all,
I hope everyone has been enjoying their summer and staying safe. As we approach the beginning of another school year, we are also beginning our new scouting year. Please see the 2021-22 meeting schedule below. As of right now we are planning to meet in person for most if not all meetings. Changes to that may happen if the city or the Archdiocese updates their health guidelines in response to the ever evolving pandemic. Weather permitting, our first meeting will be on Wednesday Sept. 22nd at 6:00 PM at Welles Park. Subsequent meetings will also be outdoors until it gets too cold then we will take it back inside the Voss Center or Zoom if necessary.

Registration
Please ensure that you get your girls registered for this new year and that the registration is updated with the troop number. For those of you who are new to the troop, the Troop # 25787. Registrations can be updated through the Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana website:
https://www.girlscoutsgcnwi.org/en/about-girl-scouts/join.html
As in previous years we are asking for a $25.00 fee for dues which goes directly to the troop fund. This is to help subsidize the cost of supplies and badges we will need throughout the year. This can be paid by check, cash, or electronic payment. If sending by check or cash please put them in a sealed envelope with your child’s name and reason for payment.
Troop Blog
We do have a troop blog that we use for all our communications so please make sure you are signed up to follow it.
https://cadettetroop25787.com/
Please familiarize yourself with the different pages of the blog. The about page will have an updated list of scheduled meetings as well as the in person uniform requirements. All of my contact information will be on the contact page.
Cookie Prizes
The cookie prizes are finally in! Due to Covid related backups and shipment issues the prizes were delayed in arriving but have as of last week. I was planning to pass them out along with the badges and patches earned at our first meeting on the 15th. If anyone has chosen not to return for the new year or if your child would like her prizes sooner please let me know so we can make alternate arrangements. I would be happy to drop them off in the next week or so.
I’m looking forward to seeing familiar faces and getting to know new ones. Please feel free to share this information with anyone interested in joining our troop. If your child has decided to no longer participate in scouts or has bridged to a new troop and you wish to no longer continue receiving blog posts, please let me know and I will remove you from our distribution list.
Hello all,
Unfortunately the horseback riding class scheduled for July 2nd was cancelled because we failed to meet the minimum amount of girls needed to participate. I think it was just a bad date to aim for as it seems many people had plans for the holiday weekend. We will try again in the early Fall and hope we get a better response. I will keep you all posted.
For anyone interested, we will once again be returning to White Pines this coming fall for our horseback riding weekend. Currently the weekend is scheduled for Oct 15th-17th. Keep your fingers crossed that Covid restrictions don’t rear their ugly head once again to derail plans.
I am still waiting for cookie prizes to come in. As soon as they do I will be touching base to see what the best way to get them to you all will be and will also be dropping off badges and patches earned.
I hope you are all enjoying your summer so far and am looking forward to in-person meetings once again in the fall !
Hello all, Please note that the date for the horseback riding event will be FRIDAY, July 2nd. Sorry for any confusion this error may have caused.
Hello everyone,
As we finish up the girl scout year and head into summer I wanted to remind everyone that we are done with our regularly scheduled meetings for the moment and will resume back in September so there will be no meetings this Wednesday or throughout the rest of the summer.
Horseback Riding Opportunity
As one last hurrah for the girls I wanted to coordinate a horseback riding opportunity at New Traditions Riding Academy in Palos Hills for Sunday, July 2nd from 2:00 – 4:00 for anyone interested. I am only asking for $25.00 per rider and the rest of the cost will be covered by the troop. I don’t want expense to be a reason for anyone to not participate so please let me know if you may need some assistance with this fee and we can work it out. This event is open to both my Junior and Cadette troops so we can enjoy the day together. We can also organize carpooling as needed to ensure that everyone that wants to come has a way to get there. Please see the address details below. Please RSVP as soon as possible so we can provide New Traditions with a count by June 15th.
New Traditions Riding Academy, LLC located at the property of Palos Hills Riding Stables, Inc. 10100 So. Kean Avenue, Palos Hills, IL 60465-1100

Cookie Prizes
Cookie prizes have not yet been delivered by council but are scheduled to arrive the week of June 20th. I will send out a post once they have arrived.
Year End Celebration
Since we could not have our traditional year-end celebration due to the pandemic I would still like to have something for my two troops together the week after the horseback riding opportunity. That way the Juniors that are moving up will have an opportunity to meet the Cadettes they will be joining. All the girls will get their cookie prizes and badges earned throughout the year. We can have a small desert table and refreshments.
Registration for Next Year
Registration is now open for next year. If you register by the new year by June 15th you will qualify for an early registration badge. For Juniors moving up to Cadettes, you will want to register for Troop 25787 and for Cadettes moving up to Seniors, you will want to register for Troop 20221.
Hello all,
I Wanted to send out a reminder that this weeks meeting will be taking place at The Kid’s Table from 5:00-6:00. ADDRESS | 2337 W North Ave, Chicago, IL 60647. This meeting fulfills one of our New Cuisine badge requirements.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns and I look forward to seeing you all there.
Hello all,
Yesterday we began work on our New Cuisines badge. It was a small group as illness and prior commitments caused some girls to miss the meeting. I wanted to send out this email so that those who were unable to attend still had an opportunity to earn the badge if they chose to. Bellow I have attached a document that lists the badge’s requirements.
As part of our badge work we needed to make something from another region of the United States and something from another era. We made an Ambrosia Salad which allowed us to cover both of those requirements and was a yummy treat for the meeting. I will attach a link to a simple recipe for the Ambrosia salad for the girls to make along with a link to the history of it to help fulfill requirements 2 and 3 of the badge work.
Requirement #1 is to make a dish from another country. This requirement will be fulfilled on the 19th at the Kid’s Table for the girls that will be attending the cooking class. For those girls unable to attend the class, they can make a dish of their own choosing and can email or text me a picture of the dish to fulfill that requirement.
Requirements 4 and 5 will be done on the honor system and the girls can do this on their own timing . As long as I can confirm that the girls completed steps 1-3 they will earn their badge.
As of now those that I have listed as attending the class are:
Savannah, Victoria, Isabella, Kaya, Carina, Ellery, Evelyn, and Madeline
Those that have said they are unable to attend are:
Harper, Olivia,
Josie as a maybe.
For those that are unable to attend the Cadette class there may be an opportunity for them to join in on the Junior class on May 26th from 6:00-7:00 if they would like. I’m waiting to here back on attendance capacity and if there is space.

Hello all,
We will be meeting tomorrow at 5:00 at Welles Park. The weather should be nice for us to gather together but if for any reason the weather changes and we need to cancel I will let you know by 3:00 PM.
Also…
I have heard from most of you to confirm for our cooking class on the 19th but if you haven’t confirmed yet please let me know by tomorrow night if your child plans to attend.
